A good tattoo does not happen by accident.
It comes from focus, preparation, control, patience, and hundreds of small decisions made by the artist from the first stencil line to the final wipe.
But every tattoo artist knows this: even when your skill is ready, your tools can still slow you down.
That is where DongHo began.
Not from a product idea.
Not from a trend.
Not from a desire to make “another tattoo supply brand.”
DongHo began with a problem.
The first problem we saw was stencil.

At that time, there were many stencil products from many places. They could transfer lines onto the skin, but for many artists, the lines did not stay long enough or strong enough to support the whole working process.
Sometimes, before the tattoo was finished, the stencil had already faded.
For an artist, that is not a small inconvenience. It breaks concentration. It creates pressure. It forces the artist to work around the product, instead of letting the product support the work.
That was the moment we knew we had to do something.
So we started with the problem, not the ingredients.
We observed how artists worked. We listened to what they needed. We tested, failed, adjusted, and tested again. We studied materials, changed formulas, brought samples back to tattoo artists, listened to their feedback, and kept improving.
Not once.
Not twice.
But many times.
Only after that process did the first DongHo stencil formula come to life.
The name DongHo also came from the same way of thinking.
In Vietnamese culture, Đông Hồ folk painting carries a quiet kind of beauty: handmade, careful, and rooted in craft. The traditional process of printing from carved wooden blocks onto paper felt different in material, but familiar in spirit, to the way stencil is transferred from paper onto skin.
That connection felt honest to us.
So, together with artists we trusted, we chose the name DongHo.
Since then, our way of creating products has stayed the same.
An artist faces a problem.
We observe.
We collect feedback.
We study the materials.
We test the formula.
Artists test it in real work.
We adjust.
Then we improve again.
This is not the fastest way to make products.
But for us, it is the only way that feels right.
Because tattooing is not just about the final image. It is about the working process: how stable the stencil is, how the skin responds, how smoothly the artist can continue, how much confidence the product gives during long hours of work.
A formula is not just a mixture of ingredients.
A formula is a response to a real problem.
That is why we do not start with what we want to sell.
We start with what artists need to solve.
Nature inspires us because it teaches balance, patience, and respect for the skin.
Craftsmanship drives us because better tools are not made by shortcuts. They are made by care, repetition, correction, and attention to small details that most people may never notice, but artists feel immediately.
And every day, we try to make it better.
Not perfect.
Better.
Better for the artist’s hand.
Better for the working process.
Better for the skin.
Better for the final tattoo.
This is the philosophy behind DongHo:
Helping tattoo artists do their best work.
Inspired by nature.
Driven by craftsmanship.
Every day better.
We create better tools for tattoo artists.
And every DongHo formula begins the same way:
With a real problem from the artist’s work and the patience to solve it properly.
